FEMINIST WEBS project -
Now recruiting for young women and/or young women's groups for
FREE launch residential 26 - 28 September 2008.
Feminist Webs exists to re-invigorate young women and girls' work within the youth work sector.
This year we launched a paper resource and website (www.feministwebs.com) containing lots of resources, made by young women and older women working together.
We are recruiting young women who are interested in 'young women and girls work', and we will link them with older women who are experts in youth work, girls work and feminism.
We will recruit a steering group of young women who will guide the project, as well as youth groups and young women who will participate in the project as peer researcher groups. These groups and young women must be based in the North West, and we are looking for groups which reflect the diversity and geography of the North West.
We want the groups to work together using youth work methods so that the young people can find out about the history of young women and girl's work, especially from the 1970s-early 1990s. They will do this through interviewing older feminists who were active in feminist youth work. The young women will be trained in oral history methods so they can collect and record the older women's stories as well as physical archive materials from the older women. The young people will help research existing archives; design the archive; collect the materials and launch the archive.
This will be launched by a residential 26 - 28 September.
