Participate and Achieve
In 2006 The Liverpool Youth Service invited young people from across the City to get involved in a new innovative 10 week training programme which leads to a Merseyside Open College Accreditation.
The course was aimed at 15 - 19 year olds who would like to make a positive contribution in service delivery at the youth unit they are affiliated to.
Over the ten week course participants covered: self-esteem, confidence, role models, assertiveness, discrimination, equal opportunities, team work, communication and planning which generated evidence for them to receive three credits at level one.
To date one programme has been completed with 15 young people attending. The comments below are from some of these young people:
"The course has been so rewarding and enjoyable. I have learnt so much over the 10 weeks and I would not have met the great people I have without the course!" (Jordan Reilly - age 18)
"Its fab - go for it! You work but its exciting work - it's great" (Lauren)
"I thought it was great and it was a good laugh. I have learnt a lot and my confidence is a lot better than it was before I came on this course. Thanks."
'I have learnt more about equal opportunities. Also more confident in groups and have more friends.'
